I.D.: General: pale yellow 'spectacles'; yellow underparts; dark upperparts; orange legs; white undertail coverts. Breeding male: blue-black back; dark 'necklace.' Female: blue-green back; faint 'necklace.' Size: L 5-51/2 in. (13-14 cm). Range: vagrant along the eastern slopes of the Rockies. Habitat: willow and alder thickets, riparian shrublands and dense understoreys in the foothills and the montane. |
