I.D.: Sexes similar: black chin and throat; white 'jaw' line and eyebrow; gray cheek and cap; unstreaked, light underparts; gray upperparts; dark bill; black tail with white outer tail feathers; dark legs. Size: L 41/2-51/2 in. (11-14 cm). Range: rare migrant and summer resident in the southwestern Rockies. Habitat: semi-desert shrublands, mesquite and pinyon-juniper woodlands and agricultural areas in the lowlands and the foothills. |
