Baird's Sparrow

Ammodramus bairdii

I.D.: Sexes similar: finely streaked 'necklace'; 2 black stripes bordering a white chin; buffy head and nape; pale legs and bill; faint chestnut on the wing covers.

Size: L 5-51/2 in. (13-14 cm).

Range: very rare local breeder along the eastern slopes of the Rockies.

Habitat: native grasslands and lightly grazed pastures up to the montane.
