I.D.: Sexes similar: green upperparts; slight eye ring; 2 white wing bars; orange lower mandible; long tail; yellow-green underparts. Size: L 53/4-61/2 in. (15-17 cm). Range: uncommon migrant and locally rare resident in the Canadian Rockies and northern Montana. Habitat: edges of wet areas in willows and birch thickets, muskeg edges and streamside vegetation in the montane. |
