I.D.: Sexes similar: dark gray upperparts; whitish chin; yellow belly and undertail coverts; dark wings; brown tail; no white outer tail feathers; no wing bars; black bill. Size: L 8-9 in. (20-23 cm). Range: uncommon migrant and resident in the foothills and mesas of the southern U.S. Rockies; accidental elsewhere in the Rockies. Habitat: open woodlands, agricultural areas, cholla grasslands and pinyon-juniper woodlands. |
