I.D.: Sexes similar: heart-shaped, white facial disk; brown eyes; golden brown upperparts spotted with black and gray; creamy white, black-spotted upperparts; long legs; white undertail and under wings; pale bill. Size: L 121/2-18 in. (32-46 cm); W 45 in. (112 cm). Range: uncommon to rare migrant in the southern and central U.S. Rockies. Habitat: cliffs, hollow trees, barns and banks in agricultural and riparian regions. |
